Redact a screenshot
Hide names, addresses, account numbers and other private details before sharing. Draw solid blocks with your finger or mouse, inspect the result, then save a fresh PNG.
1. Choose and cover
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB. Screenshots up to 12 megapixels are supported. Your original file is unchanged.
2. Inspect before sharing
This preview shows the newly generated PNG. Zoom in mentally and check edges, reflections, QR codes and any other details you may have missed. If you change the blocks, create a new copy.
- All intended details are completely covered.
- No private information remains elsewhere in the image.
- Only share the downloaded copy, not the original.
How this works
The tool draws your image and solid black rectangles onto a new canvas, then exports a PNG. Covered pixels are replaced in that new file; original metadata and editable overlay layers are not copied. Review the result yourself because the tool cannot find every sensitive detail automatically.
Why use solid blocks?
Transparent marker strokes and light blur can leave information readable. A fully opaque block is clearer for sensitive text.
Does this redact PDFs or videos?
No. This tool handles JPG, PNG and WebP images only. PDF files may contain hidden text and need dedicated redaction software.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Choose a saved screenshot, drag a finger to place each block, then inspect and download the PNG.
